갈비 (Galbi K-BBQ)

For people that don’t know, I am Korean and one of the things that I wanted to learn how to make was Galbi. This was something that my mom taught me how to make. I tested different versions and came to a version that I love to make. We’ll here we go lets make some Korean Short Ribs.

Instructions

1) Soak the meat in water for about 30 minutes to drain out the blood and do it one more time for a total of one hour

2) Start the marinade at the end of the soaking the meat. Get Tupperware that could hold the marinade and the meat together. I usually add these things in the Tupperware because I use the same measuring cup and starting with dry things first doesn’t leave sugar in the cup LOL.
2a) Add the sugar, sesame seeds, soy sauce, water, and sesame oil into the same Tupperware with the measurements above.
2b) Slice the onions and garlic and add them into the marinade
2c) Put in ground pepper enough where there is a small film on top, like SMALL FILM, if you want to try it out first 1 tbsp I think is good enough for now.
2d) (Optional) If you are making this in the morning and want to eat it at night, you can add a little bit of pineapple juice / pineapple blend but don’t wait to long with this because the meat will melt LOL I’m not kidding.

3) Put the soaked meat into the marinade and let the ribs soak for 24 - 48 hours.

4) Grill the meat

5) Chop up the green onions as garish and put it on top of the finished BBQ.

6) EAT!!!!!

Notes

I’ve used the same marinade with chicken and pork before so you could do that instead of beef if you want :).
